QuickCompress Terms of Service & End User License Agreement
Last updated September 8, 2026
These Terms of Service and End User License Agreement ("Terms") govern your purchase, download, installation, activation, and use of QuickCompress.
QuickCompress is operated by Freddy Agbona, based in Cotonou, Benin. Contact: hello@fredthedev.com.
By purchasing, downloading, installing, activating, or using QuickCompress, you agree to these Terms. Mandatory rights that apply to you under applicable consumer law are not excluded by these Terms.
1. QuickCompress
QuickCompress is desktop software designed to compress video files locally on supported Mac computers. QuickCompress is distributed directly through https://getquickcompress.com and may use online services for purchasing, licensing, downloads, support, analytics, and software updates.
2. License grant
When you purchase QuickCompress, you purchase a license to use the software, not ownership of QuickCompress or its intellectual property.
Subject to these Terms and successful payment, QuickCompress grants you a limited, non-exclusive license to install and use the software for lawful personal or professional purposes within the activation limits of the license you purchased.
3. One active Mac
Unless an offer expressly states otherwise, a QuickCompress individual license permits one active Mac at a time.
You may transfer your license to another Mac that you own or control by deactivating the previous Mac and activating the new Mac. If you permanently lose access to the old Mac, contact hello@fredthedev.com and we may reset the activation after reasonable anti-abuse checks.
You may not intentionally circumvent activation limits or use one individual license simultaneously on multiple Macs.
4. Lifetime license and Early Bird offer
QuickCompress V1 is sold as a one-time purchase, not a subscription.
For the QuickCompress Early Bird offer, the commercial terms are:
$39 one-time · 1 active Mac · Lifetime license · Lifetime updates · No subscription
The standard future price is intended to be $59. Pricing for future customers may change without affecting a completed purchase.
For an offer explicitly sold with a Lifetime License, your license does not expire solely because time passes and does not require a recurring subscription fee. "Lifetime" refers to the commercial lifetime of the QuickCompress product/service, not the lifetime of an individual purchaser, and does not guarantee compatibility with every future operating system, hardware platform, or technology.
For an offer explicitly sold with Lifetime Updates, updates that QuickCompress generally makes available under that entitlement are included without an additional subscription fee while QuickCompress continues to maintain and distribute such updates.
An Early Bird purchase does not automatically grant rights to unrelated future products, separately sold services, or products other than QuickCompress unless expressly stated.
5. Payments and Merchant of Record
Payments for QuickCompress are processed by Dodo Payments, acting as Merchant of Record. Dodo Payments may handle payment processing, payment methods, invoices, applicable transaction taxes, refunds, and payment disputes under its applicable terms.
QuickCompress does not directly store your full payment-card details.
6. Three-day money-back guarantee
In addition to any non-waivable consumer rights available under applicable law, QuickCompress offers a 3-day money-back guarantee for an initial QuickCompress license purchase.
To request a refund under this guarantee, email hello@fredthedev.com within 3 calendar days of the original purchase date, using the email address associated with the purchase and providing enough information for us to identify the transaction.
Once an eligible refund is processed, the associated QuickCompress license/entitlement may be revoked and the software may stop allowing licensed compression after it next validates the entitlement.
The 3-day guarantee applies to the initial license purchase. It does not require us to refund purchases outside the guarantee period except where applicable law, Dodo Payments' mandatory rules, or other non-waivable consumer rights require otherwise.
Nothing in this section limits statutory refund, withdrawal, warranty, or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or shortened.
7. Local video processing
QuickCompress is designed to perform video compression locally on your Mac. Your source video is not intentionally uploaded to QuickCompress servers for compression.
You retain the rights you hold in videos and other files processed with QuickCompress. QuickCompress does not claim ownership of your content merely because you process it with the application.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the legal right to process the files you use with QuickCompress.
8. Original files and backups
QuickCompress is designed not to intentionally overwrite or delete your original source video during normal compression operations. Nevertheless, software, storage devices, operating systems, and hardware can fail.
You are responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important files. QuickCompress is not a backup service.
9. Compression results and benchmarks
Video compression involves trade-offs between file size, visual quality, audio quality, encoding time, format compatibility, and source characteristics.
QuickCompress does not guarantee that every source video can reach every requested target size, that a target can be achieved without noticeable quality loss, that every output will work with every third-party service, or that every compression will achieve a particular reduction percentage or completion time.
Benchmarks shown by QuickCompress describe measured results under specific hardware, source, software, and test conditions. Actual results will vary.
10. Supported systems
QuickCompress may require specific macOS versions and compatible Mac hardware. Current requirements are published on the QuickCompress website.
Changes made by Apple or other third parties, future operating systems, hardware changes, security requirements, and dependency changes may affect compatibility. We may discontinue support for older operating systems or hardware when reasonably necessary to maintain the product.
11. Activation and offline use
Initial license activation requires an internet connection. QuickCompress may periodically validate the entitlement online.
Where supported by the current version, an already activated installation may continue to provide local compression while offline for a limited offline-grace period. Offline operation is not intended to circumvent a refund, revocation, chargeback, or other valid license-status change.
Temporary unavailability of QuickCompress's licensing or update infrastructure does not convert a valid license into a subscription and does not authorize bypassing license controls.
12. Software updates
QuickCompress may periodically check for updates. Updates may include security fixes, bug fixes, performance improvements, compatibility changes, and new functionality.
Update packages may be cryptographically verified. You should not install QuickCompress updates obtained from an untrusted or unofficial source.
The updates included with your purchase are determined by the offer under which you purchased QuickCompress. Early Bird purchases explicitly advertised with Lifetime Updates retain that entitlement.
13. Restrictions
Except where applicable law expressly permits otherwise, you may not:
- resell or sublicense an individual QuickCompress license;
- publish or share a license key so that others can exceed its activation rights;
- circumvent, disable, or manipulate licensing/activation controls;
- distribute unauthorized copies of proprietary QuickCompress software;
- modify QuickCompress for the primary purpose of bypassing licensing restrictions;
- interfere with or abuse QuickCompress licensing, update, download, or backend infrastructure;
- use QuickCompress to introduce malicious code into our systems; or
- falsely claim affiliation with or endorsement by QuickCompress.
14. Intellectual property
QuickCompress's proprietary software, website, branding, logos, interface, documentation, and original content are owned by or licensed to QuickCompress/Freddy Agbona and are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws.
These Terms do not transfer ownership of that intellectual property to you.
QuickCompress incorporates third-party and open-source components. Those components remain subject to their respective licenses and notices.
15. Availability and third-party services
We aim to keep supporting services available but do not guarantee uninterrupted availability. Initial activation, payment, downloads, license management, update checks, and other online functions may depend on third-party providers or internet connectivity.
QuickCompress may use providers including Dodo Payments, hosting providers, CDN/storage providers, email providers, and other infrastructure vendors. Their own services may be subject to their terms and availability.
16. Suspension, refunds, chargebacks, and revocation
We may suspend or revoke an entitlement where we reasonably determine that a purchase has been refunded, reversed, charged back, obtained fraudulently, shared beyond its permitted activation limit, or used to abuse QuickCompress systems.
We will not intentionally revoke a valid lifetime license merely to force a legitimate customer into a subscription or repurchase.
17. Discontinuation
We may modify or discontinue QuickCompress in the future. Discontinuation does not automatically convert an existing lifetime/perpetual license into a subscription.
Where technically and legally feasible, we will seek to avoid unnecessarily disabling legitimate already-installed copies solely because the product is discontinued. This is not a promise of indefinite compatibility with future versions of macOS or future hardware.
18. Disclaimer of warranties
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, QuickCompress is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties beyond those expressly provided in these Terms or required by law.
Nothing in these Terms excludes statutory warranties, remedies, or consumer protections that cannot lawfully be excluded.
19. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Freddy Agbona/QuickCompress will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of QuickCompress, including loss of profits, business opportunities, or data.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, our aggregate liability arising from the purchase or use of QuickCompress will not exceed the amount you paid for the QuickCompress license giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not apply where applicable law prohibits the limitation or exclusion of liability.
20. Privacy
Your use of QuickCompress is also governed by the QuickCompress Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy explains the limited information processed for purchasing, licensing, analytics, updates, and support, and explains that video compression itself is performed locally.
21. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms to reflect changes to QuickCompress, our providers, security requirements, or applicable law.
We will not use a later version of these Terms merely to retroactively remove a material lifetime-license or Lifetime Updates entitlement expressly included in a completed purchase, except where a change is required by law or necessary to address fraud, abuse, or security.
22. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the applicable laws of Benin, without prejudice to mandatory consumer protections or rights that may apply to you under the laws of your country or region of residence and cannot legally be waived by contract.
